3 Tips for Using Geneanet #2

Posted by admin on Feb 27, 2015

As much as possible, we will post blog notes to answer your most frequently asked questions about using Geneanet.

Tips of the week are:

– How to delete a Geneanet account?
– How to import a GEDCOM file into Geneanet?
– How to contact a Geneanet member?

1. How to delete a Geneanet account?

Click ‘Profile’ in the drop-down menu at the top right of the screen.

Click ‘Delete Account’ at the bottom of the page.

2. How to import a GEDCOM file into Geneanet?

Click ‘Family Tree > Import/Export & Other Tools’ in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Select your GEDCOM file, then click ‘Send’.

If your GEDCOM file is bigger than 10MB, you can ZIP it and upload the ZIP file to Geneanet.

If your GEDCOM file contains an additional branch, select the option ‘Add Data’ to merge it to your actual family tree.

3. How to contact a Geneanet member?

When browsing the family tree of a Geneanet member, click the ‘Home’ icon at the top left of the screen.

This will open a new page, then click ‘Public Contact Page’.

You can send an email to the member or you can directly send a message to their Geneanet mailbox.

Please take my name off your Geneanet mailing list for newsletters. Also the surname BERNTSEN I keep getting notified about. They are all the wrong countries. My husband’s ancestors came from NORWAY not DENMARK or USA..

Thank you.
