How To Trace the Places Where Your Ancestors Lived in Your Geneanet Family Tree?

Posted by admin on Sep 5, 2014

Most of archival records – especially censuses – say where your ancestors resided in.

Tracing where your ancestors lived is very interesting and it might help you to overcome a brick wall.

In your Geneanet family tree, you can add as many facts as you need, including the residence names.

Here is how to do it.

Go to a person in your family tree, then click ‘Individual’ in the menu.

Click ‘Complete’ at the top right of the window, create a new ‘Residence’ fact, then enter the place name, the date and the source (census, other record).

Here is an example of timeline with some place names of residence.

Here is the same timeline in text mode (click ‘Individual’ in the top menu bar).

If you use our non-graphic family tree software (Geneweb), you can also add new facts to enter the places where your ancestors lived.
