I am the 4 x gt. grandaughter of Alice Delanoy, directly descended from the first De Lanoys to come to England from Lille, N. France. They were Walloons and French speaking Calvinists, as were the Huguenots. FDR was descended from the brother of Alice's ancestor, who came to England in 1560. Many of her family settled in Thorney, E. Anglia and the family prospered and spread all over the world. Some De Lanoys claim to trace the family back to William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy. Fascinating!
