Left in France During WWII, Bible Returned to Family 67 Years Later

Nearly 70 years after Private First Class Johnny Roberts left France after WWII, the bible he left behind has found its way home. Roberts was a young man with a wife and two daughters living in Knoxville, TN, when he was shipped off to Brussels to help defeat the German offensive.

He was there for just about a year, often finding refuge from French families grateful for the Americans’ help. Somewhere along the way, in one of those French homes, Roberts left his bible and never saw it again.
