An effort to digitize the nation's historically significant newspapers is posting its 5 millionth page on a free searchable database online.

As of Monday, the Chronicling America project has posted 5 million pages from more than 800 newspapers in 25 states. The project was launched in 2007 by the Library of Congress and National Endowment for the Humanities with 32 state partners.
