Throughout the state Monday, hundreds of cemeteries have been tidied up, with wreaths and flowers placed near headstones of loved ones and bugles shined for the playing of taps.

Yet, while families visit relatives at Wyuka and Calvary cemeteries on Memorial Day, not everyone is remembered: Those buried in the county's six pioneer cemeteries lie in rest without pageantry.
