Holocaust Memorial Center Acquires Historic World War II Railway Boxcar
The Holocaust Memorial Center announced that it has acquired an authentic World War II-era railway boxcar from Germany.With the cooperation of the German National Railroad and the Technical [Railroad] Museum in Berlin, the 10-ton boxcar is expected to arrive on either Friday, Sept. 23 or Mon., Sept. 26, at the Holocaust Memorial Center, where it will undergo careful conservation. Believed to be one of the last in existence and the only one exported to the United States from Germany, this boxcar will be shown to school children and other visitors and will stand in mute testimony of the horrors of the Holocaust.
