A little online research brought me to Mattie Luella Metcalf.......born in Alabama, married Ellis Metcalf....died in Arlington, Fl 1930.......I have notified the author of this story, so maybe now Mr. Luttrell will have some peace of mind.
Mr. Luttrell ...
The 1945 FL State census (Duval Co) lists Ellis M. Metcalf, widow, age 75 b. AL, living w/son James E. b. 1910 AL. The son, James E. Metcalf and his wife Lois M. have an 8 year old boy, James D. Metcalf b. 1936.
People Finder lists: James D. Metcalf (possible living grandson of Ellis and Mattie Metcalf) b. 14 July 1936 is living in St. Augustine, FL.
If a death certificate could be obtained, it would likely name the cemetery where Mattie is buried.
