Shrewsbury, Massachusetts: New Website Will Benefit the World War I Memorial

The 80-year-old World War One Memorial at Shrewsbury’s Beal Elementary School, named in honor of Maj. Howard W. Beal, (a Shrewsbury resident who practiced medicine in Worcester and was killed in action on the Western Front in July 1918) has deteriorated beyond repair due to the ravages of time and weather.

The local Veterans of Foreign Wars, along with several interested citizens in the community have decided to address this problem by forming The World War I Building Committee. The goal is to raise the needed funds to build a new memorial.
