Main Search: You can search the GeneaNet database by name (with alternate spelling), place and year.

Individual Search: You can search the GeneaNet database by alternate spelling of name, by alternate spelling of first name, by occupation, and by favorite places. Reserved for Club Privilege members.

Cross-Database Search: You can automatically compare your family tree with the complete GeneaNet database. Club Privilege members can limit the search to their Sosa-Stradonitz (Ahnentafel) numbered individuals and compare their direct line with the GeneaNet database, ignore unknown places and limit the search to the GeneaNet Online Family Trees.

Club Privilege Members can also automatically compare their family tree with the one of another GeneaNet member. They can access this feature from the member Page Contact:


3. Library


Old Books: You can search almanacs, monographs, military directories, etc. with name index. Reserved for Club Privilege members.

Contemporary Books : You can search bibliographies, genealogy works, magazines, etc. provided by our partners. You must purchase a Pack of Points either if you are a Club Privilege member. The price of the document will be displayed before you purchase it.

4. Archive & Indexes


Archival Registers: Search Archival Registers shared by the GeneaNet members: Parish & Civil Registers, Decennal Tables, Notarial Registers, etc. Free Access. Some documents are reserved for their submitter.

Collaborative Indexes: Search the Free Collaborative Indexes shared by the GeneaNet members. Free.

Genealogy Society Indexes: Search the Indexes and Transcriptions provided by GeneaNet and their partners (Parish Registers, Vital Records, Family History, Wills, etc.) Some records are available to everyone on Pay-per-View and others are only available to the GeneaNet Club Privilege members.

Archival Records: Search genealogical records shared by the GeneaNet members and attach them to your Online Family Tree. Free.

Announcements: Created more than 20 years ago by Le Colonel Arnaud, La Bibliothèque Généalogique et d'Histoire Sociale is the most important French announcements database collected by La Bibliothèque Généalogique and published by GeneaNet. You must purchase a Pack of Points either if you are a Club Privilege member. The price of the document will be displayed before you purchase it.

Roll of Arms: The armorial Arnaud d'Abzac offers more than a hundred of heraldry books (this database contains the description of the coats of arms but not the images). Reserved for Club Privilege members.

Can I search the data of a GeneaNet member?

Select the 'Limit the search to a GeneaNet Member (Username)' option in the search form and enter the username of the GeneaNet member.

Can I exclude the data of some GeneaNet members from the search results list?

Select the 'Exclude a GeneaNet Member (Username)' options in the search form and enter the username of the GeneaNet members you want to exclude from the search results list.

How to find a GeneaNet member?

Click 'Search Member' in the 'Community' tab to search GeneaNet members by their name, username and email address.
