WWI Helmet Reunited with Soldier's Family
For about 50 years, Bob Baitinger kept a World War I Army helmet in his collection of military memorabilia, curious about the soldier who wore it. "I often wondered if he was still alive or who he was," Baitinger said.Two weeks ago, Baitinger decided to find out. He dug out the cardboard box in his Joliet basement that stored the helmet with the name Cpl. Edward S. DeNomie scratched into the metal brim.
