New Databases from Library and Archives Canada
Canadian Families: Library and Archives Canada holds a small collection of church records, some of which are indexed by name. To provide better access to those indexes, the information they contain has been entered in a database that will expand slowly over the next few years.Upper Canada Land Board (1765-1804): In 1789, what is now the Province of Ontario was part of Quebec. It was divided into four districts: Hesse, Luneburg, Mecklenburg and Nassau. The Land Boards were created in 1789 to oversee land matters and facilitate settlement in the four districts. This research tool includes more than 16,400 references to the Upper Canada Land Board records.

I am searching for Sandberg's who are from Nord Trondlag and Trondheim, Norway who came to Canada in the early 1900's. I have found my grandfather, Edwin Stokfelt Abrahamsen Sandberg immmigrating from Trondheim on January 18, 1910. He sent for my grandmother in June of 1910. They lived in Brantford and Toronto , Ontario and had seven children. My grandfather died June 29, 1918 and is buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Brantford. A son is also buried there. My grandmother, JennyHolmer Sandberg and six of her chilrden came to South Dakota, USA in January of 1918. I am searching for individuals who are related to my Sandberg's as I understand some relatives came to Canada also. Thank you, Marlene Sandberg Hurney
I'm am looking for people who are from Trondlag and Trondheim, Norway as well. However they came over to Canada in 1891. The name is John Johanson/Johnson he was married to Margarite Janssen and they had a son named John Johanson/Johnson Sr. b. April 21, 1871 in Norway and married Lydia Cook in Levis, Canada. They had a son named John Joseph Johnson who is my great-grandfather. I would like to find how they came over to Canada, which boat and see how far back I can go to learn more about this family line. I'm not familiar with Norweign names and can only find info about their lives in Canada and when they migrated to Worchester, Massachusetts in 1901-1902. If any one has any insight or can offer help, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks...Michelle
