Backup and Restore your GeneaNet Online Family Tree

The GeneaNet Club Privilege members can now have their own FTP folder to backup and restore their Online Family Tree. This FTP folder can also be used to upload and import a GEDCOM file.
Of course, every GeneaNet user can always directly download a backup of their Online Family Tree for free to save it to their computer but the Restore feature is reserved for the Club Privilege members.
To ask for the creation of your FTP folder, you must upload a GEDCOM file to our FTP server and send a Ticket Contact with the name of your file.
To upload a GEDCOM file to our FTP server:
- Run your FTP Client
- Log in to the server: Host: ftp.geneanet.org, Remote Directory: incoming, Login: anonymous, Password: leave blank.
- Upload file
The FTP server is set to 'Write Only' so no one can download your file.
Backup (Export) your Online Family Tree
Select the 'My GeneaNet : Online Family Tree : Backup & Restore : Export Family Tree' item in the left sidebar or simply go to http://my.geneanet.org/arbre/save.php.

Restore your Online Family Tree
Select the 'My GeneaNet : Online Family Tree : Backup & Restore : Restore Data ' item in the left sidebar or simply go to http://my.geneanet.org/arbre/save.php?view=restore.

A backup of your latest Family Tree will be automatically done before the restore process.
A backup of the manual updates of your Online Family Tree is done every eight hours so you can restore an earlier version of your Family Tree at any time.
Upload a GEDCOM file
You can use your FTP folder to upload and import a GEDCOM file to your Online Family Tree.
Select the file to upload then click 'Send'.

You can now upload files bigger than 10 Mb.
