Postcards from a soldier to his sweetheart during the First World War have been found on a beach.

The fascinating collection, including pictures of the couple, dates back to between 1914 and 1918 and was spotted half buried in sand by a couple walking along the promenade.

Soldier Arthur Lyddon had sent the messages to Mabel Langford while he served in France and Egypt.

Glynis Dray discovered the 21 cards, one of which was a love poem, at Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset.
