Massive Genealogy Project Unveiled At The New Brunswick Genealogical Society
As the Southeastern Branch of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society prepares for its annual general meeting in Moncton Saturday, members are announcing the creation of a huge resource for anyone tracing his or her family tree -- a small but committed group of volunteers has catalogued the names of the thousands of our ancestors and contemporaries buried in the cemeteries of Westmorland County.The massive labour of love involved photographing every single tombstone in 146 cemeteries, transcribing the information captured in the photographs, and then combing through death and burial records wherever possible to account for those whose graves are unmarked.
