Coming Soon: Legacy Family Tree 7.5
Legacy Family Tree 7.5 will soon be released.
Legacy Family Tree has received official certification from FamilySearch.
Legacy Family Tree version 7.5 will add new tools to help researchers collaborate, backup, and optionally synchronize their Legacy family files with the data in the FamilySearch databases. These new tools should encourage better research collaboration and prevent research and ordinance duplication.

With a large file (mine is 80,000+) the index feature does not work, requiring the user to cycle thru "given" and "surame" several times to get the new individual to list; when adding a married couple as ancestors, the program does not index to the surname in use, requiring the user to type i even the fathers surname; the relationship engine does not recalculate and will list a grandfather as a cousin thus throwing off all later generations; the ancestor colors (which tell you aif the individual is on your materal or paternal line) is non-functional. All efforts to have these problems addressed by Millenium have been unsuccessful. As long as their software is largely used as a free download they do not feel the urgency to repair thses problems for the paid user.
For nearly a year now the promise of Legacy 7.5 has not materialized. At first I thought it was because Legacy was just waiting for many of the bugs in NewFamilySearch to be worked out and then jump in with a product that would be what I have been wanting. When the NGS was in Salt Lake a representative of Legacy indicated that mid June or July at the latest would see the long awaited day but here it is the end of September and still no making good on the promises made that "it is coming soon". What is the hold up and when will it come about?
Latest news from Legacy are: September 20, 2010 - Legacy is being evaluated by FamilySearch for its final Sync Certification. After it gets the approval, we will have our testers perform their final testing, after which we will release to the public.
