I tried to locate names for the census , which was supposed to be an exciting release, except I found the whole site rather boring and without surnames in the census, the rest of it is wasted

Hi!
As far as I can tell, the above links to the CSO contains only statistical data, not full census pertaining to 1926.
1926 should be released on the internet by end of 2014, I think they are due to start digitising soon. Only 1901 and 1911 census are available fully at the moment, via http://www.census.nationalarchives....
Do records exist for Census type data in Ireland before 1800?
I am very disappointed that The Minister Jimmy Deenihan has not insisted that the 1926 Census are released immediately; we are now waiting so long for the availability of same; This is supposed to be the year of The Gathering, and these Census are very important to those of us researchers who are dedicated to research; it's 87 years ago and the U.S.A have the 1940 Census on line; Would The Irish Government wake up and smell the roses, if they are not released until 2014------, i'ts like bolting the door when the horse is gone.
I am eagerly awaiting this census the 1926 irish census holds the vital clues to me tracing my lost Kedney family, its so upsetting and heart breaking that i have hit a brick wall with my search just because i can not access theese files, after all its my family, do i not have the right to discover my ancestors and find half of my family whom i have never known! waiting patiently for the census, please hurry! x
