I am looking for any one that knows any histrory of my dad's family STANISH or STANICH as it was first spelled and or their emigration from Slovakia(?) and/or Czechoslovakia possibly late in the 19th century.
My grandfather's name was John and he married Mary Patrunak from Patton, PA, and they settled in Windber, PA. They had 7 children: Margaret (Furda), Edward, Dorothy (Turquato), John, Bill (my dad), Leonard, and Thomas. They attended St. Mary's Byzantine or Greek Catholic Church. My grandfather's parents and siblings lived in Windber, also I only know a few of their names: Peter, Mary (Mamie) Most of the family moved to Toledo, OH around 1943-44. My grandfather was a miner, worked in the lumberyard and for the railroad. He was a frequent visitor of The Slovak Club and was in The SOKOL(?) Any info or tips are greatly appreciated! Thank You!!!
