Voice From The Past: Listen To A Family Christmas Recording Hidden Since The Great War
Ghostly voices from a family celebrating Christmas together during the First World War have been heard for the first time in nearly a century.
Eight phonograph cyclinders, made of beeswax and soap, feature the Smith family from Salisbury in Wiltshire singing carols and sicussing 'daddy being away at war.'
'Even more astonishing is the realisation that the older people could have been born as far back as 1850.'

I am a Smith in Australia, and my husbands father was from Wiltshire It was fascinating to be able to hear This Family celebrating Christmas so long ago I do hope they find the right Family that the recording belongs to what a treasure for them to hear the voices of some of their ancestors, especially nine year old Ronnie whose great grandchildren would hopefully find it wonderful to hear his voice , I also hope their father made it home from the Great War , Thanks for allowing us to hear this too to all concerned Cheers for a Happy Peaceful Christmas and New Year to all Laraine Smith
