I have been using CFT for a number of years, but since buying a new computer with Vista I have been unable to use it. I have not been able to find any links to the software for upgraded drivers.
Can you help and direct me?
Do you know why there is no longer any contact with Ira Lund?
Thanks for your time
Maurice
Dear Maurice,
It seems that CFT no longer exist. The website has been closed some months ago.
The latest email I received from Ira Lund was on Dec. 12th, 2007 and it said: "The only thing I did for Ver 3.20 was to fix a problem with Vista. It really is nothing more than a minor fix. There is commentary on the Vista issue on the FAQ page."
Best regards,
Jean-Yves
In like to no more off this Famely
anyone out there with a copy of CFT 3.20? Been using it for years but can't register it on Vista.
I've been using CFT for 10 years. Sorry to see it go. I have found what appears to be version 3.20 at the following site:
http://www.hahne.no/cftw/
I haven't upgraded to Vista yet, so I haven't had to upgrade to this version, but it appears to be valid. Version 3.14 is also available at this site (at least for now).
I have used it more or less snice 1999 and it works fine, even on Vista. I usually copy the whole directory to the other computer when I upgrade and that keeps all the settings AND the license ... ;o) If I change it will probably be to one of the Swedish ones that have support for some extra nice features ... but I have found everything in CFT that I rellay need!
This is a simple program and I am so used to it after over 10 years of use. This week it just stopped loading (v 2.51) and it was so much hard searching to find the next version up to try. Genealogy sites rate it low it for its simplicity but I think a program you can put on your USB stick with all your archives and run anywhere is such a boon. I have used a lot of the others - all are telling me to do it their way but CFT just lets me do it my way. I know it does not have the 'chrome plating' of the current offerings and you do have to keep the archives well maintained but I really liked the simplicity.
Such a shame it has gone..
I bought CFT 10 years ago, and was occasionally using version 3.14.d. Then I learned that the product had ceased. Recently I bought a competitive poduct - but there is a lot of data I want to access in my CFT files. Unfortunately I have just had to replace my HDD and although the data was recovered the program was not. So today I downloaded the 3.14 version from the www.hahne site but my password doesn't work. Does anyone have a password that will work with the 3.14 download from that site please?
