All medieval manuscripts in the Netherlands on the Web
The Medieval Manuscripts in Dutch Collections database contains descriptions of all medieval western manuscripts
written in Latin script and produced up to c. 1550 now preserved in
public and semi-public collections in the Netherlands.
These include
the collections of libraries, museums and archives, as well as the
collections of monastic orders and some other private institutions that
are open to researchers.
There is no restriction concerning content: literary, historiographical, academic, hagiographical, and (para-)liturgical texts, artes texts, ego-documents etc. written in Latin or one of the Western European vernacular languages, all qualify for inclusion.
Fragments of such manuscripts will only be included when
this is feasible and useful: the text on the fragment has to be
identified and/or the fragments should already be sufficiently
catalogued as an object. Archival documents and letters are not
recorded, except when they are part of a manuscript that does qualify
for inclusion.
