Currently the project is focusing on immigrants from France, Germany, England, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. Other nations will soon be added.

Anyone with an internet connection can access this database for free. Additionally, funds are being raised to finance the project, in order to pay the wages of the student researchers, to purchase copies of microfilms, and to maintain the technical side of the project.

Those who try to find their immigrant ancestors and understand the way they lived and the circumstances that shaped their lives, may find it difficult to access the information that they need to accomplish their tasks. For that reason the Immigrant Ancestors Project team is trying to gather resources that will aid researchers in the search for their ancestors.
