Records on Line : Registers, markers and indexation
You know Records on Line very well now. But do you use its little brother , Registers in Line ?
Registers, based on the same principle as records, are intended to receive all batches of images, whether parochial registers or complete civil records, decennial tables, but also notary bundles for example, census lists, all sorts of documents very important for the genealogist.
Registers, based on the same principle as records, are intended to receive all batches of images, whether parochial registers or complete civil records, decennial tables, but also notary bundles for example, census lists, all sorts of documents very important for the genealogist.
But these registers, you will not find them while making a search in the database of Records, simply because they are not nominative, since by nature they call tens, hundreds, and even thousands records. To find them, firstly surnames must be recorded in the census beforehand. This is not a mere count, but indicates simply which names are present, so that we can find them quickly. The second task is input the dates : as for certain departmental archives whose registers have been remitted on the web, each visitor can easily input for the page he/she is viewing, the related date and month. These will be saved and memorized and afterwards any other searcher will more easily find the needed information.
There are two types of information you can supply : the month and the year, the surnames and first names. We need you ! Since Records on Line was put in place, it is nearly 70 towns, over about 30 departments, for which registers have been remitted.
However, certain complete registers are not available on names, as they have been counted elsewhere, on the website of a society for example. You will then find the corresponding record easily.
So, do not hesitate any longer, just a few minutes from time to time, even once, and everybody will benefit from it, as we all know very well : union is strength !
As a reminder, a complete description of the instructions on how to use registers was made in a note of the month of November.
