Weighing up of a very good year

Impressive numbers

2006 could be the year of confidence, that you granted us, more than ever ... and for which we thank you !

At year-end, numbers speak for themselves: effectively, you are over 600,000 to be connected to GeneaNet, and half of you do it several times each week !

2006 could be the year of confidence, that you granted us, more than ever ... and for which we thank you !

At year-end, numbers speak for themselves: effectively, you are over 600,000 to be connected to GeneaNet, and half of you do it several times each week

Also, you are more and more to support us with your subscription to the Privilege Club, and without you we could not have put in place a section like Records on Line.

A site remodelled

2006 has been marked with the entire remodelling of the site, during the first semester of the year.

First of all, the graphical aspect changed : we gave up the old colours in order to gain sobriety and discretion.
Regarding navigation, maximum has been made to ease access to the many sections of the site : a tab bar  has been added, making more intuitive the way to browse through all the services presented by GeneaNet. Sections such as Search, Services, Archives, Community, Shop, Help, My GeneaNet now include each sub-sections giving immediate access to information needed.

Remodelling of the site continued in depth : simplified menus to send your Gedcom files, reorganization of the Frequently Asked Questions, discussion Forums, Post-Cards and Portraits menus, graphical options of your Family Tree on Line, and finally all welcome menus, for always more clearness and ease of access.
Notations of family trees also have had their rebirth, and have evolved towards GeneaNet recommandations, so that visitors can give their positive opinion on the trees they visited. Filing of results of a search has also been revised and has integrated the GeneaNet recommandations and Records on Line, as well as import of notes and sources, now included in total.

A new section plebiscited : Online Records

The big novelty of the year, is indeed a unique service in the world of genealogy, and totally free : Online Records.

The basis, you know it : in order to put an end to ceaseless debates regarding genealogical sources, Records on Line now introduces reliability in your family trees.

You indicate a date of baptism for someone ? Now you can send the corresponding certificate of baptism, which you have duly digitalized, scanned or photographed yourself.

This record is added to a record database in which one can make searches via a search engine, and also you can add this record to your Family Tree on Line.
Better still, anyone having a family tree on line may link YOUR record to it, and yet not appropriate it to himself, but simply to bring evidence of his arguments.

Finally, each record, can be retranscribed by anyone. And, of course, all types of records are accepted, whether civil, or parochial, notary, legal or other.
Besides Records on Line, Registers allow you to send entire batches of records, for example a whole village, or notary bundles, census lists, etc.

At the start of 2007, nearly 60,000 records have been remitted. At this pace, by end February we will have 100,000 records ! One does not dare to imagine how many records will be in the database by the end of the year...

... and for 2007 ?

Family Tree on Line  should be improved in its presentation, so as to simplify its usage.
Other projects are under study, and once more they will make GeneaNet the pioneer in genealogical innovations on the Internet. We won't tell you more, it's a secret !

2007 therefore will be a year fertile in novelties, which is the objective of GeneaNet since its foundation : preserve free access for all, and remain faithful to our sharing concept, so that we can offer quality services, for a genealogy of quality.

All the GeneaNet Team thanks you again for your confidence, and wishes you an excellent genealogial year for 2007.

I would love to join to your club priviledge, but so far your site has really wasted my time trying to obtain further information from you, to see if actually I want to join. Your site has sent me on a wild goosechase trying to contact you. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but your "contact us" simply does not have a way for me to contact you. to have to finally post a comment to do so, is further wasting my time and your personnel's time. I am interested in your services, but so far I am mostly just annoyed and feel like sending you an "unsubscribe" message period....

I agree! In fact, I WANT to unsubscribe and don't know how. Is there anyone out there who knows how? Please write to me at "bacampbell@sympatico.ca" and let me know. NOTE: If geneanet is paying attention, please unsubscribe me right now!!!
