140 800 soldiers of the french 1st Empire

The Ste Helen's medal database is still growing and reach now the number of 140 800 soldiers of the first Empire who got the Ste Helen's medal in 1857. The names and history of these men are available for free on our website and database.
We thank all people who are voluntary working on the project. We are still working to find all soldiers that are unknown. We are thinking that, such as in Belgium, Italy, Denmark some of them might have been decorated in other countries. We know that some have been in Canada. So we are wondering about possibly american people decorated with the st Helen's medal in 1857, and why not in england with immigrated soldiers or members of the irish legion ?

If you are living in these countries and want to help us, please try to search in your archives places or ask the question to the curators to know if the medal has been distributed in your country. You may also have a look-up on the newspapers of the end of the year 1857 or 1858 to search a ceremony of medal's delivery.
