148 000 soldiers of Napoleon

The Ste Helen's medal database is still growing and reach now the number of 148 000 soldiers of the first Empire who got the Ste Helen's medal in 1857.
The names and history of these men are available for free on our website and database. (in French)
We thank all people who are voluntary working on the project. We are still working to find all soldiers that are unknown. We are thinking that, such as in Belgium, Italy, Denmark some of them might have been decorated in other countries. We know that some have been in Canada. So we are wondering about possibly american people decorated with the st Helen's medal in 1857, and why not in england with immigrated soldiers or members of the irish legion ?

If you are living in these countries and want to help us, please try to search in your archives places or ask the question to the curators to know if the medal has been distributed in your country. You may also have a look-up on the newspapers of the end of the year 1857 or 1858 to search a ceremony of medal's delivery.

Johann Neubauer 1781-1849 Where can I find any reference or lists of service of German-Bohemians who served in the Napoleonic Wars? Johann Neubauer 1781-1849 Invalid corporal of the regiment of Cetwicz and Prentenberg; apparently obtained job in Krumlov Castle in Southern Bohemia as result of his war service. Worked in the Schwartzenberg Estates.

Was this the Johann Neubauer who was a carpenter in Iglau who was married to Theresia (Neufingerl)?and also Emilie (Lay)? Is this the same Johann Neubauer who was the father of Josef Neubauer and the Grandfather of Herta Marie Neubauer born august 13, 1905, died 1980?

Did any Juzan ,or de Juzan, serve Napoleon or the King?

I, too, am wondering where I can find lists of service of men who served in the Napolionic Wars.
